RideHonest — Terms of Service

Last updated: [Effective at site launch — insert date]

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and RideHonest LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("RideHonest," "we," "us"). They govern your use of ridehonest.com and the products and services we offer there (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms. We've written them in plain language on purpose — clarity is our whole business — but they are still a binding contract, so please read them.

1. What RideHonest Is

RideHonest helps vehicle owners understand what their car needs and what it should cost. Our products include:

Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future purchases; changes never affect a purchase you have already made or a subscription term you have already paid for.

2. What Our Reports Are — and What They Are Not

How reports are made. RideHonest reports are generated using automated analysis technology, including document-processing systems and artificial-intelligence language models, applied to the documents and information you provide, together with reference data about vehicles, repairs, and pricing. A report reflects an automated analysis of the specific inputs you gave us at the time you gave them.

Reports are information, not professional advice. RideHonest is not an automotive repair facility, licensed mechanic, dealer, inspector, appraiser, insurer, lawyer, or financial advisor, and our reports are not a substitute for any of those. A report cannot see your actual vehicle. It cannot verify the physical condition of any part, confirm that a recommended repair is or is not needed, or guarantee what any shop will charge. Decisions about whether, where, and how to service your vehicle — and matters of vehicle safety — are yours, made ideally in consultation with a qualified professional who can physically inspect the vehicle.

Automated analysis can be wrong. Like any analysis — human or automated — our reports can contain errors, omissions, or estimates that don't match your local market. Pricing context is based on available reference data and may not reflect every region, vehicle configuration, or shop. You should independently verify important information before relying on it.

No outcome guarantees. Except for the Guarantee described in Section 5, we do not promise that using RideHonest will save you money or produce any particular outcome.

3. Eligibility and Your Account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep your login credentials secure; activity under your account is your responsibility. Tell us promptly at support@ridehonest.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Purchases, Billing, and Auto-Renewal

Payments. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our systems.

One-time reports. Quote Check is a one-time purchase, charged when you order.

Shield subscription — how renewal works. Shield is an annual subscription. Unless you cancel, your subscription automatically renews at the end of each annual term, and the payment method on file is charged the then-current annual price. We state this clearly at checkout before you subscribe, and we will send you a reminder notice before each renewal charge, at the contact information on your account.

Canceling. You can cancel Shield at any time, online, from your account settings — cancellation is as easy as signing up, with no phone call required. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your subscription remains active through the end of the term you already paid for. We do not provide prorated refunds for the remainder of a current term except where required by law or under Section 5.

Price changes. If the renewal price of Shield will be higher than what you last paid, we will tell you in advance of the renewal, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.

5. The Guarantee: Save $99 or It's Free

We stand behind Quote Check with a simple promise: if your report does not identify at least $99 in potential savings or negotiation opportunities on the quote you submitted, we will refund your $99 in full. To claim the Guarantee, contact support@ridehonest.com within 30 days of your purchase from the email on your account. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. The Guarantee applies once per submitted quote, requires that you submitted a genuine repair quote, estimate, or inspection for a vehicle you own or are responsible for, and covers the report price paid; it is not a promise that any identified savings will be achieved with your shop, which depends on circumstances outside our control.

6. Other Refunds

If something went wrong with your purchase — a duplicate charge, a report that failed to deliver, a technical failure on our side — contact support@ridehonest.com and we will make it right, including a refund where appropriate. Nothing in these Terms limits refund rights you have under applicable law.

7. Your Content

It stays yours. The documents and information you upload — quotes, invoices, receipts, photos, vehicle details ("Your Content") — remain yours.

The license you give us. So that we can operate the Service, you grant RideHonest a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, analyze, reproduce, and display Your Content for the purposes of providing the Service to you, maintaining and improving the Service, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, subject to the retention periods described in the Privacy Policy.

Your responsibilities. You confirm that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights. Report quality depends on input quality: reports are generated from what you provide, and inaccurate or incomplete submissions produce less accurate reports.

8. Our Intellectual Property

The Service — including our software, report formats, analysis systems, text, graphics, logos, and the RideHonest name — belongs to RideHonest LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Service and your purchased reports for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share your own report with people helping you with your vehicle (a family member, your shop). You may not resell reports, offer the Service to others as your own, or copy our systems or report formats to build a competing product.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; submit content that is fraudulent, infringing, or malicious; attempt to probe, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; use automated means to scrape or bulk-extract from the Service; or misuse the Guarantee or refund processes. We may suspend or terminate accounts engaged in these activities.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service is built on third-party providers (for example, payment processing, cloud hosting, and document analysis) and may link to third-party sites, including repair shops. We are not responsible for third parties' services, prices, workmanship, or policies. Your dealings with any repair shop are between you and that shop.

11. Disclaimers

Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service and all reports are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) RideHonest will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, vehicle damage, or repair decisions made in reliance on a report; and (b) RideHonest's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us for the product giving rise to the claim (for example, the $99 report price or the $129 annual subscription price). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold RideHonest harmless from claims and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights in connection with the Service.

14. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service; if we terminate without cause during a paid Shield term, we will refund the unused portion of that term. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, and 15) survive.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@ridehonest.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally — most issues get fixed this way. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction; either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court where permitted.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you (for example, by email or a notice in the Service) before it takes effect, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you don't agree, stop using the Service and, for material changes adverse to an active Shield term, you may cancel and request a prorated refund of the unused term.

17. Everything Else

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any terms presented at purchase, are the entire agreement between you and RideHonest about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
