RideHonest — Privacy Policy

RideHonest exists to make opaque things clear, and that includes what we do with your information. This policy explains what RideHonest LLC ("RideHonest," "we," "us") collects, why, who touches it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to ridehonest.com and our products (the "Service"). Short version: we collect what we need to analyze your repair documents and run your account, we don't sell your personal information, and you can get your data or delete it by asking.
1. What We Collect
Information you give us: - Account details — name, email address, password (stored in hashed form). - Vehicle information — details like year, make, model, VIN, and mileage that you choose to add. - Documents you upload — repair quotes, estimates, inspections, invoices, and receipts. These documents often contain personal information such as your name, address, phone number, and your repair shop's details. - Messages — what you send to support@, hello@, or other contact channels.
Information collected automatically: - Usage and device data — pages visited, features used, approximate location from IP address, browser and device type, and cookies or similar technologies (see Section 9).
Information from our payment processor: - Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your transaction (amount, date, card brand, last four digits) but your full card number never touches our systems. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to: generate your reports and provide the Service; create and secure your account; process payments and deliver receipts; send service communications (report delivery, renewal reminders, security notices); send marketing communications you can opt out of at any time; provide support; understand usage so we can fix and improve the Service; prevent fraud and abuse; and meet legal obligations.
3. How Automated Analysis Works With Your Documents
Your uploaded documents are processed by document-recognition (OCR) technology and analyzed by artificial-intelligence systems to produce your report. This processing happens with service providers acting under contract with us. We do not permit our AI and document-processing providers to use your documents to train their general-purpose models, and they are contractually restricted to processing your content in order to provide services to RideHonest. Reports are generated for you — automated analysis of your documents is never a basis for selling your information.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers working under contract for us, limited to what their function requires: payment processing (Stripe), cloud hosting and databases, document-recognition and AI-analysis providers, email delivery and communications tools, and analytics providers.
- Professional advisors (such as an accountant or attorney) where needed, under confidentiality.
- Authorities, if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of you, us, or others.
- A successor business, if RideHonest is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case this policy continues to apply to your information and we will notify you of any change in ownership.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
5. How Long We Keep Information (Retention Schedule)
We keep information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, then delete or de-identify it. Our standard schedule:

Where law requires longer retention (for example, financial records) or a legal hold applies, that requirement controls for the affected records.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Wherever you live, we extend the same core rights to you:
- Access & portability — ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, in a usable format.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your account and personal information (subject to the legally required retention items in Section 5).
- Marketing opt-out — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link that works with one click; service emails (like receipts and renewal reminders) continue while you have an account or active subscription because they are part of the Service.
To exercise any right, email privacy@ridehonest.com from the address on your account, or use the tools in your account settings where available. We respond within 30 days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Depending on where you live (for example, Virginia or California), you may have additional statutory rights, including the right to appeal a decision on your request — reply to our response and a human will re-review it.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, credential vaulting, and two-factor authentication on our critical systems. No internet service can promise perfect security, but protecting the documents you trust us with is a core obligation, and if a breach affecting your personal information occurs we will notify you as required by law.
8. Children
The Service is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact privacy@ridehonest.com and we will delete it.
9. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the Service works. We honor applicable opt-out signals as required by law.
10. Where Information Is Processed
We are a United States company and process information in the United States, using service providers that may process data in other countries under appropriate safeguards. By using the Service, you understand your information is processed in the U.S.
11. Changes to This Policy
When we change this policy, we will update the date at the top; for material changes we will notify you by email or a notice in the Service before the change takes effect. Prior versions are available on request.
